|
Editorial Expertise assists (1) professional writers with preparation of manuscripts for publication; (2) graduate degree candidates with the formal and technical details of master's theses or doctoral dissertations; and (3) non-professional writers with research and/or writing projects. High professional standards and meticulous attention to the nuances of journal articles, non-fiction/scholarly books, short stories, novels, and memoirs are the hallmarks of my editorial service. I have edited fiction and numerous scholarly articles and books, published by Notre Dame, Blackwell, and Kegan Paul, among other notable presses. As an interdisciplinary professor, I am conversant with various academic disciplines (literature, philosophy, theology, religious studies, psychology, anthropology, and business ethics) and versed in the following documentation styles: MLA, APA, and Turabian or the Chicago Manual of Style (and willing to learn the requirements of other style sheets). The preparation of scholarly articles and books and other non-fiction includes editing of sentence structure, grammar, syntax, and documentation; attention to stylistic consistency; recommendations for reorganization of chapters and subdivisions; and formatting. Editing of prose fiction also includes suggestions for character development and plot structure. Preparation of a master’s thesis or doctoral dissertation may include (1) enhancement of sentence structure, stylistic consistency, and organizational cohesiveness; (2) refinement of grammar and syntax, in-text citations or endnotes/footnotes, and bibliographic entries; and (3) formatting of the text, table of contents, appendices, and bibliography. NOTE: I do not research the topic, produce the academic text, or substantively alter a master's thesis or doctoral dissertation.
